According to the Pennsylvania Disposition of Abandoned & Unclaimed Property Law (72P.S. 1301.1 et.seq), any account that has been dormant for a period of three years or more is considered abandoned and is to be turned over to the State of Pennsylvania.. Once your account becomes dormant for more than 24 months, we will begin charging you a $5.00 monthly fee to keep this account open. In order to avoid this fee, you should check with the credit union on a regular basis to make sure that your account does not fall into this category.
